Our community service project  is scheduled for October 23, 2010 at Swan Cove Retirement Senior Building.  We are scheduled to show our art to the seniors that live there.  I understand that the ladies are preparing for us with great excitment and LUNCH.  Can't wait for that.  We are to be there from 12: noon to 4:00pm instead of our 10:00am regular meeting time.  Check with President, Jeanna Temple for any questions and directions if unsure of location.  See you and your show and tell then.

Fabric Shop Hop

On August 29th, Stitches From The Soul took a ride to visit the Black Swamp Quilt Shop in Millbury, OH.  We were shown lots of fabric, tools and quiting supplies to enhance our craft.  This was the first time some of our members had been to a fabric shop and excitment was very evident.  We looked at everything, felt everything and bought quit a supply of fabric.  After the trip to the store, we stopped at Applebee's for lunch.  Now that's where the fun was.  Good food and fellowship made for a beautiful day.  Do check out the photos of our ladies at the shop and lunch.

Stitches From The Soul Sistahs Quilt Exhibit 2010

The exhibit of quilts from the Stitches From The Soul - Sistahs are now on display at the Toledo Main Library in downtown Toledo, OH  through mid March.  Only being there and seeing the exhibit first hand of what these sistahs have accomplished is amazing.  After viewing these quilts no one would imagine that these ladies had never quilted before.  My husband and I went down today to check out the display and came away taken by the upscale exhibit.  Not only did they showcase the quilts but had paintings and portraits by other black artist from the area. (Happy to say that I knew a couple from childhood.) This is an exhibit you must see.
